Instructions The calendar can be used in two ways. If you will use it for predicting the sex of an unborn child, simply cross-reference mother's age at conception with month of conception. If you will use it for planning baby gender, then find a suitable period for conception based on the mother's age. In order to increase your chances, find a period when the gender remains steady for at least two months. To maximize the chance for correct prediction you should avoid conception during the first or last ten days of a gender period (period for conceiving a certain gender according to the calendar). The reason is that there are unknown, but apparently gradual changes taking place between two successive gender periods. During these changes the selection of gender happens more or less by chance. Before using the calendar we recommend testing it on births that have already taken place, preferably in the family or among friends, where the circumstances (early births, late births etc.) are well known. If you want to test the accuracy of the calendar on known births, there is a step-by-step procedure on the next page. Remember to only use births where conception took place in accordance with the previously mentioned recommendations. |

Important notice A common idea is that the Chinese Gender Calendar should be based on lunar cycles, as per the agricultural calendar (yin- yang-li). But since the Chinese Gender Calendar has its roots in astrology, which is based on the sun's movement around the zodiac, perhaps it makes more sense to use solar calendar dates. In fact, our research shows that the highest accuracy is achieved when western dates (in accordance with the Gregorian calendar) are applied. In other words you don't need to convert birth dates and conc- eption dates into other calendar systems. |
